Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

I was in a 6 car accident in South Carolina in May and I now live in Florida. The insurance company of the man at fault has been putting me off as far as a settlement. They paid off my car which was totled, but my medical bills have gone into collection. I wanted to know if I could use a Florida lawyer to help me. The insurance company inlocated in Florida.

South Carolina law applies. If a Florida lawyer knows that law he can handle the claim. Probably best if you hire an attorney in S. Carolina. The case, if any has to be filed, likely will be filed in South Carolina.

I agree with Mr. Stein, with one caveat. You could hire counsel in Florida since you are a Florida resident and that lawyer can associate with local counsel in South Carolina. There are advantages for you if you were to do this and some disadvantages. If you consider hiring Florida counsel to assist you should discuss the up and downside of having a Florida lawyer.
