Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

How can you find out if a company has Liability Insurance?

My husband was injured on the premises of a boat building company. The owner of the company (not the property) claims he has NO liability insurance. My husband feels this may be untrue. How can we find out if their is liability insurance on the property/company without asking the owner of the business?

Don't accept any verbal answers. If the two don't have insurance, they do have assets i.e. the company and valuable waterfront property. Get thee a lawyer if you have significant injuries and don't try to out fox the fox.

Retain a lawyer and the lawyer should prepare a demand package with a letter referencing applicable Florida Statutes and giving the recipient of the letter 30 days to respond to the demand. If there is coverage, the owner of the company would inevitably provide a copy of the demand letter to its insurance carrier to make sure the claim is covered and avoid having the claim denied, which would expose the corporation's assets to any prevailing claim. There are other ways of learning whether there is coverage, and I would be glad to discuss this with you if you're interested.
