Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Free Question. We live in Northwest Florida and are planning to move. We have a pool, is there any forms or paperwork to protect us from liability if someone were to drown or get hurt because of the pool? Thank you Thomas Lawrence, Retired, US DIsabled Vet, USCG

You need to be certain (get this in writing) that your insurance company will insure you for liability for your pool. You also need to be certain that you have taken every reasonable precaution to insure that there is a fence, and the fence is secure, and the gates are locked, and that no child could just "wander" into your pool area. This is your responsibility, with or without insurance. Pools are a huge liabiltiy, but you can get a special rider, on your "primary residence" to cover other properties that you own, but do not currently occupy. You may need an attorney well versed in insurance law to assure that you are adequately covered for loss/liability. The cost of the attorney is negligible compared to that of a lawsuit for the loss of life or injury in your pool.
