Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

My husband was in an minor accident with a U-haul truck. We are not really sure what happened exactly but it was his fault. However, he did not receive a ticket nor did the other driver (this is Florida). We did buy the insurance when we rented the truck. Everything went smoothly as we contacted u-haul and their insurance company right away. About a week later we were told the claim was paid and closed and it was all settled. But today my husband received a call from someone claiming to be with U-haul asking for our personal insurance information. My husband did not give them the information as he was under the impression that it was all settled.

Can U-haul now go after us or our insurance for reimbursement?

Also, can the other driver get us or our insurance to pay her deductible?

(At the accident scene she was very worried about paying her $1000 deductible with her leased car). We did not inform our insurance of the accident, because we paid for U-hauls insurance and did not think we needed to inform them.

Your contract with U-Haul will control your relationship with them. Sometimes that "insurance" you buy is not quite what it is supposed to be. Your insurance may come into play. Have someone review the U-Haul agreement. Dont discuss the matter with anyone from U Haul or the other driver on the phone. Ask them to provide any information in writing. Notify your carrier about the accident in case your personal coverage becomes relevant.
