Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Statements made to a court reporter

I was asked to make a sworn statement concerning unethical and illegal actions that I witnessed by a third party. These statements were made under oath at an attorney's office and recorded by a paid court reporter. Does that qualify as a ''privileged statement'' if a slander claim were to arise?

My statement was 100% true and accurate, but I would prefer not having to pay the expense to defend myself if the claim could be thrown out due to being a privileged statement.

Re: Statements made to a court reporter

Unless your statement was made to your lawyer as a part of seeking advice (doubtful because of the presence of a court reporter), there is no privledge that would apply.
