Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

An acquaintance used my credit card in 2007 without my permission and set up a corporation with me listed as the incorporator. They then turned around and sold a residential property to this corporation. Apparently they never filed any article docs or any other docs for the corp and the status is inactive. Fast forward to 2013 they are trying to sell a property in which they sold to this corporation. I have a lawyer for the buyers offering me money to be disbursed at closing to sign a notarized affidavit regarding the facts surrounding the formation of the corporation. They are apparently trying to clear the title for closing. Is it legal for me to accept money for signing a notarized affidavit?

I think you need to discuss the situation with an attorney and review all the facts. If they want to pay you they can pay for the attorney's time to evaluate it also. Don't just sign the affidavit since you are getting paid. You don't want to acknowledge anything about a corporation which you believe was fraudulent opened.
