Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Asessment to prior condo owners

We bought a condo 2 months ago. 2 days ago we received a letter from association stating we owe 2 months in asessment fees, if not paid in 7 days they will begin legal action. Our contract says seller is responsible to pay from July to Oct. It turns out it never was put in escrow. Then I find out the assesment is through Feb., which sellers never disclosed. What is our recourse? Thank you.

RESPONSE: Worst case scenario, you may want to pay and then fight about it with the respective parties, ie the seller, the realtor, the escrow agent, etcetera, because the last thing you want is to have the assessments continue to accrue intrest and ultimately if payments is not received the assocciation may impose a lien and foreclosure action on he property. Good luck.
