Buyer wants to purchase a home they sold previously in a short sale 3 years ago. Can the buyer purchase this property again?

The answer to this question depends on who purchased the property in the short sale 3 years ago and whether the homeowner was required to sign an arm's length agreement or similar document that that may prevent the transaction. If such an agreement, it would come down to the language in the document. However, is there is nothing preventing this transaction in the documents the bank provided that were signed and executed at the closing, then I see no reason why they would not be able to purchase it.
