commissions to realtors re:estate sale of homestead

Both of my parents are deceased. And in the settlement of the sale of their home, a 6%commission was paid to the real estate agents (3% to seller's agent, 3% to buyer's agent). It was my understanding that florida law limits the commission due real estate agents, not to exceed 3% of the sales price.Is this true?
