Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

eviction notice

We are renters of a 2 bedroom duplex. We moved here only a few months ago. We have been given an eviction notice on the basis we allowed my cousin to stay with us after having a family disaster. Also because we had a ripped screen on our front door! My fiance and I do not feel these are good reasons for eviction. 1 we have no lease

2 never was it said we can't have

family stay

3 my fiance is on permanent disability

4 rent payment is not an issue

Do we have any grounds to stand on??

Thank You

PS we have fixed the screen(it cost $2.00)

Re: eviction notice

If you have no written lease, you're on a month-to-month tenancy which allows either party (landlord or tenant) to terminate the lease with proper notice. You should start making alternative living arrangements immediately.

Re: eviction notice

With no lease, you are subject to eviction, with proper notice, as a holdover tenant.
