Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

My ex-husband passed away. His children secured a lawyer and went through all the bells and whistles and with their insurance payments paid of the house and received the title free and clear. Now they are auctioning off the house and the title company is saying Targer put a $4,500 lien on the property back several years before he passed and it never showed up on the initial property search. Are my children responsible for his debt now?

They are not responsible for his personal debt. The house, however, if not homestead, may be subject to the lien. They need an attorney.
