Does a landlord have legal right to keep my deposit if I paid a ac repair after 4 days I notified her when it broke and never got a phone call back I texted her and called no answer I texted her when I hired someone to fix it and a got a fast call saying who do I think I am I am not the owner and definitely have no right to anything with this house and so on I explained that she can simply take it off the rent she said no that if I give her a check for less money she will keep my deposit. What can I do?

Your question raised several issues, but, in atempt to answer your concern, rent and security have nothing to do with one another. A security deposit can only be filled failed to compensate for damages the curd to the property

Your question raised several issues, but, in atempt to answer your concern, rent and security have nothing to do with one another.

A security deposit can only be used to compensate for damages that occured to the property while you were living there. It can not be used as rent or any part of it.
