I said I would marry a man. He tells me he wants to give me part ownership of the house. I later decide not to marry him due to abuse... can he sue me for misrepresentation and demand the deed back?

Possibly, if like an engagement ring, it was given as consideration for a marriage. If the marriage doesn't take place, the engagement ring must be given back, and possiblly the house. At least that is the theory here.
Of course, if it wasn't in consideration of getting married, then probably no.
