Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Protecting Assets from Possible Civil Lawsuit

I am a 60 yr old, retired, unidentified 'John Doe' in a Federal Civil Suit alledging copyright infringement by a large deep pocket retail firm with representation by a large law firm.

I would like a consultation with an attorney in the Panama City, Fla area, regarding safeguarding my assets in the event of being identified, served and sued.

I own free and clear a house 5+ yrs old ($230 K) in Ga. but have only minor cash assets. Not enough to waste in an effort to contest the civil action.

I am thinking about getting a loan against or a mortgage on 80% of the value of the Ga. home to purchase a $150 K condo in P.C.B. as I understand that such properties used as the main residence are exempt from civil judgements. (ie: as in OJ)

I need advice on this course of action or on alternate ideas to safeguard assets.

Re: Protecting Assets from Possible Civil Lawsuit

I cannot provide you with answers regarding Ga. law. An observation, if the house in Ga. is a protected asset, there is no need for you do anything to it.
