Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

real estate legal advise

A friend of mine is trying to sell his home in St Petersburg, FL. He is currently living in Nashville, TN with his partner. My friend is close to going into foreclosure with the house he is trying to sell. He is currently hospitalized on a ventilator with a 50/50 chance of pulling through. He has AIDS. His partner is wondering if there is any help to get them through this time without losing that home before it sells. They have lowered the price significantly over the last year, without any success in selling it.

Re: real estate legal advise

Sorry to hear about your friend's troubles. I am currently representing many, many people in foreclosure. The key is hiring an attorney and and filing a proper response in the foreclosure case. If you do so, you have a whole lot of time to figure out other options and it forces the other party to start considering things that they otherwise would not. Specifically, if you file a proper answer in the case, they may be inclined to accept short sale offers that they otherwise would not. If you do not answer, the foreclosure case moves to default within 20 days and they can move to sell the home at auction shortly thereafter. I work primarily in St. Petersburg and would be happy to speak with your friend, who may email me at [email protected].

The preceeding was for educational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice and no attorney/client relationship is created.
