Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I was told to rerecord/correct the original deed to my home so it read Mr and Mrs rather than just my husbands and mine name. Well the court house made a mistake and mailed my original deed to some man. This dept gave me the mans cell phone address and name, I was present when they spoke to him on the phone and they told him I would contact him and he needed to asap return the deed to me. He is refusing to do so. He admits having possession of it and very threatening refuses to return it to me. What do I do and what does this man think or can do with the original deed to my home?

Just file a new deed. That should solve the problem. You could sue for it, but I doubt that it is worth the effort.

You do not need the original deed in order to make the correction. You can get a copy of same from the Recorder's Office in the County where the property is located and then proceed to file the corrective deed.
