Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

The townhouse I rent has gone through foreclosure and was auctioned on Sept 25. I did not receive notice of the sale until after I had mailed October rent to the property management company. They claim they are entitled to hold on to the rent until the new owner (Freddie Mac) contacts them to request it. They also insist on going through with a move-out inspection before returning our deposit.

I think they are entitled to nothing after Sept 25, and I should get the entire deposit back with the return of rent for Sept 26-Oct 31. Is that right?

If you are still living there, then why shouldn't you pay for the rent for this month? If you don't they can evict you or sue you for it. The new owner may allow you to stay.
