Legal Question in Tax Law in Florida

Question is about 2009 tax return.

I devorced September 2009. I understand that I am not allowed to file jointly as I did for the last so many years. My 2009 income is mostly from Unemployment conpensation, and some 1099 income of $2,000 or so. No dependents. I gave the house to my X-wife, however, the mortgage remain for both names. Her income is only from S.S. Disability.

Can I use 1040Easy? or 1040A. What kind of deductions can I claim when I fill in the tax form? Any other notable points since I devorced?

Since you were divorced prior to December 31, you are considered not married for the entire year. Because you have some mortgage deductions, your tax return preparer may have to file a 1040 with a schedule A. You should have your return professionally prepared by an accountant or at H&R Block.

I hope this helps!
