Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

I was in the car in Live Oak when i made an "improper U-turn". It was a two lane street where the other side of the road was empty. I made a U-turn and a lady ran into me from behind. She was speeding and didn't stop in time and rear-ended me. She hit my bumper which later fell off. I was given a ticket for the improper U-turn because i turned slightly to the right before i made a turn to make sure I would make it in one go. The lady behind me did not get a ticket and I have to pay for the damages done to her car. She rear-ended me and I got a ticket and have to pay for her damages. Is there anyway you can help me out?

You need to find an attorney in that area that knows the cops and the judges who will help you fight this. Based on what you wrote, it is possible that a judge will find you guilty. Even though the other driver may have been speeding, you still have a duty to make sure it was clear to make a U-turn. So you need to take the time to talk to an attorney in more detail about the defenses at trial. Good luck.
