Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

compensation for totalled car

Someone failed to yield and turned left into me. Totalled my car. They're saying its valued at $6900, which leaves me with $1300 for a new car after the lien. My credit stinks, and my car was in excellent condition with viper alarm and window tint. Its minor I know cause I wasnt hurt, but don't they have to put me back in a car? How can I get a car with only $1300 for a downpayment? I had planned to keep that car for years, now I'll have a new higher lien. Also insurance will be higher on a newer car, and they're more expensive right now. Loss of income whenever I'm looking for a car and the hours spent on the side of the road. Should I get a lawyer?
