Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

police searching without a warrant?

How does a traffic stop lead to the police bringing my 19 year son back to my house and searching his room because their are robberies in the neighborhood?

Today the police pulled my son over for driving w suspended liscense. My daughter calle dme saying that the police are searching the house. I told her to put them on the phone. He said that my son signed a paper saying that they have permission to go in my house. He is 19, he is not on my lease and he or I do not own the home. The knocked on the door and coherced my daughter to open the door by telling her that her brother wants to see her in the police car. When she opened the door and stepped out they just waltzed right in. Since when does a traffic stop lead to a search of a home? I talked to the sergeant for hours and I think they know that they made a mistake now. He said that my son has a background but he did not. It was a case that was dismissed for burglary. Is this right? Osceola County, Kissimmee, FL

Re: police searching without a warrant?

The police don't need a warrant. In you narrative you said your son gave them permission. With permission they can search whatever they want.
