Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

Registration Information

Hi, purchased a car in March. Pulled over for speeding in May, didn't have registration on my car. ot a court date for ''Failure to register motor vehicle.'' The dealership failed to register my car correctly. I went to court under idea I could do this myself, waived right to public defender. Now, after pre-trial, this looks to be going to trial. I have documentation saying I purchased the car from the dealership. Should I file anything with the Clerk of the Court? Is there any possibility of getting the State's Attorney to drop charges before trial?

You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

This may be far more serious than you think. A public defender is only offered when the state is seeking to impose jail time if you are convicted. It is time to consult an attorney to review the facts of this case. If it can be proven that the dealer failed to properly register the car, your charges should be dropped but your time is very limited. Further, you may have grounds for a civil suit against the dealership for the problems which have been caused by their negligence.
