Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

In my fathers will I was left his VA life insurance, he passed away 4/12/2016 (at the age of 96) the policy matured 3/10/2016 and the policy proceeds were paid out. Who would be untitled to that money?

not sure what you are asking. If you were left the insurance, then you need to call the VA life insurance company and find out where the funds are. They will probably ask for a death certificate and/or something from the court. Insurance policies are not part of the probate unless he made it payable to his estate.

If you were named as beneficiary on the insurance policy (not referring to will), you are entitled to proceeds. If the estate was named as beneficiary or there was no named beneficiary, per the will you should receive the proceeds.

The beneficiary named in the policy would take precedence over the will. If no beneficiary than the proceeds pass through the Estate and the will controls.
