locating bank accounts

What papers are needed to search for bank records, beside death cert.

Are these known locations? If so, the proper party is the estate representative or a family member. If locations are unknown, did the person have a Will? It might contain references to asset locations. Check prior tax returns for interest reporting. Check the mail for the next month or 2 as year-end tax statements will be processed during January and early February. You could also place an ad in a paper of general circulation where the decedent lived. You could also call the major banks in the area and check. Hope this give you some ideas.
