Legal Question in Family Law in France

forced mariage

My fianc�e ( an american citizen lebanese) is in lebanon and got married by force. she wants to escape and live with me in france or usa. she will go to usa embassy to have help. but we want to know if with attorney we can ''cancel'' this illegal mariage . the husband is american, muslim. she got married by force with hit... it seems nobody can help her in lebanon

Marriage is a contract and consent must be voluntary. If her consent was given under duress, it would not be voluntary. On the other hand, if she lived with her husband after the marriage ceremony and the marriage has been consummated, this would probably be considered a ratification of the contract and would cause the marriage to be valid. Whether the consent issue could be litigated in France or the U.S. is a more difficult question. It would require research for me to give an opinion. If she is a US citizen and an adult, there is no reason why she cannot leave Lebanon.
