if someone receives a supeona re the division of family property does he need to

my friend lives in the us. his family home in another country is being divided and if he receives a court order or supeona does he have to go to his home country to respond? or can he fill out the necessary paperwork and mail it. Does he need to be present?

Without seeing the subpoena I cannot give a specific answer. Generally, if he is not consenting the division, he may be able to respond without going to the country involved. If he is contesting, he should contact a local attorney to represent him and he will probably have to go there to pursue his contest. I suggest he consult a local attorney anyway to protect his interests.
