What is the cost to file for bankruptcy?

It depends on the lawyer and whether it is a 7 or 13 (for individuals), but on average, you can expect $1500 for a Ch. 13 (with as much as $650 up front), or $700 for a simple Ch. 7. Filing fees are an additional $200. These are just guidelines, but are probably close, depending on your situation.
