Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

I signed the contract with a company for a home security system on April 8, 2011. A technician from the company did system installation on April 11, 2011, but failed to fully secure my home with its current status, so I decided to terminate the contract. I faxed a written cancellation notice to the company on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. This is the BUYERS RIGHT as stated in the contract. On May 26, 2011, I received a letter from America Express and informed me that the company had credited my payment back to my credit card. I thought that the cancellation process had finally been completed, but recently, I've received two letters: one is the FINAL DEMAND NOTICE to collect the three-year service and the other the NOTICE OF LIEN FILING against my home. I am shocked! I really need your help and advice about what I need to be done. Thanks a lot in advance.

No one here has your contract, your cancellation letter and other paperwork. Does the contract allow fax notice? Did you follow the instructions to the letter? Assuming you properly canceled, what happened when you wrote them and specifically pointed out the cancellation notice and provided a copy? If you can't get it resolved in writing, you'll need to take all the documents to a lawyer for review and resolution.

Assuming your contract allowed cancellation by fax, what happened when you got the latest notices and wrote them and provided proof of the cancellation. That likely would have resolved things. If not, see a lawyer and bring your paperwork to him.
