summon for Credit Card Balance

capital one is summoned me to respond to paid in full. I don't have $8800+fees= to $10k can I make an offer. of how much? say $4800 and they turn it down what do I do then? make another offer of how much more? How do I respond on what form or just a letter form??? Before it got this far I did get a letter from one of the collectors wanting to settle for I think was about $6500 can I go by that? Thanks for any help! Ja

You can always make an offer, but they have no duty to accept it. However, most creditors are happy to at least get something.
