i told my ex's girlfriend if she keeps talking crap about me that i am going to beat her butt (i cleaned up my language a bit), is there anything she can do to me legally for saying that? i sent it in a message and she printed it out and said she is taking it to the police.

The police may very well view it as communicating a threat. If you are going to threaten women, you can expect to need a criminal lawyer.
