If a song that is made availible on the internet and is free of copyrights; ie not big record lable ''small'' people that post their music on the internet for the purposes of downloading, would there be any reason i cant use the music for purposes that are not commercial or for monetary gain given that the song is credited to the author in addition to listing the source? To be more specific there is a game called ''The movies'' and in short you can make movies with it. there is a website themoviesgame that allows people to share movies they made with the game. now as per the rules of that sait you are not allowed to put copyritten content in you movie. for the purpose of this question were just talking about muic. there is also a web site newgrounds that is for the purposes of sharing movies and games made with flash software. it has a section called the audio portal, that has music that people submitted for use. the website say that the music is free for copyrights and is free to use and they ask that you give credit to the author. to sum it up can music from newgrounds that is not copyrited be used in movies made and placed on themoviesgame?

I strongly suggest you build in a system for getting artist consent to use their songs. Help them and they'll help you. We can assist you with this.
