Legal Question in Technology Law in Georgia

I was laid off last year from a company that was going under; I had been with them almost since the beginning, about 4-5 years. Early on in my employment I was asked to handle all domains, registrations, renewals, etc., and I was given approval (verbally) to consolidate all domains at a single registrar; I also received approval (verbally) to keep them all in my personal registrar account, so I could keep up with renewal dates easier. I have therefore technically been the registered owner of those domains, ever since they allowed me to consolidate them into my personal account.

After I got laid off, I was not able to collect most of my last paycheck; they kept promising it to me and telling me the check was in the mail (and I kept those emails and text messages), but then a few weeks ago they stopped responding altogether. Then I realized they had never asked me to transfer domain registrations back to them when they laid me off. Can I sell one (or all) of the domains to a third party to recoup my lost wages, or will I be in violation of any laws?

Unless they give you a written okay to do it, you could be sued for selling them.
