Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Georgia

Polk County Ga. Da office is trying to seize my mothers and dad property, even though there is not enough evidence to take it away, (small amount of drugs) they are running stories in the local newspaper about my mother and what she wrote on the court paper begging to keep the house, this is so embrassing, Are they allowed to reveal what my mother wrote to the judge. The DAs office told my mother that if she would come up with 2500.00 they would let it go. My brother lived there, but mother and father owned it. I can send a copy of the story if you would like. It seems to me that the DA is trying to humilate my mom in the newspaper, this is not right. My mom knew nothing of what was going on in that house. I think they are running ads in the paper so they mom will try to come up with 2500.00 just to shut them up. Is this right?

You need a lawyer and your parents can lose their home. Such cases (civil forfeiture) are unfortunately very expensive. Your family made a huge mistake in contacting the Judge (and can be held in contempt for an ex parte communication, and yes, what they say could be made public) and have completely mishandled this serious matter. A home can be lost over ANY quantity of drugs. Get a very good lawyer and stop talkking to the DA and the Court, as you have likely made things far worse by doing this.

My office does not do such cases.

Let me add that if they are "running ads" the house is going to be lost (the ads are required in such procedures) unless you get a lawyer very soon. It will be expensive. And it is necessary.
