Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

car contract

I bought a car 2weeks ago. I signed a retail installment sale contract and gave them a down payment check which they cashed within a few days. Now the salesman is calling me to say that I was only approved for a lesser amount and that I have to bring the car back and get a less expensive one or pay another $6000 to keep the one that I bought. Do I have any legal rights since I have signed a contract with the dealer to finance the car or not?

Re: car contract

Your rights are in your contract - and most have provisions that cover this very situation. Review it again.

Re: car contract

Read the contract you signed. You never should buy a car the way you did, as you get screwed (and yes you're stuck).

You never should buy a car unless you first get preapproved for financing by your bank/credit union BEFORE you go to a dealer, or, absent that, until you get actual approval at the dealer.

Essentially you agreed to a sale contingent on financing, and since you breached the contract (read it), they have you over a barrel.
