Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

My credit is bad and I recently purchased an automobile from a dealer. He told me that the only way I would get a lower interst rate was if I were to purchase the $3,000 extended warranty, gap insurance, maintenance agreement and interior protection. If I did not purchase those packages, I was told my interest rate would be double. This added about $5000 extra dollars to the cost of the car. Was this action legal and should I have been required to purchase this in order to get a loan.

Sadly, you were foolish. (What he said doesn't matter. If you'll look at the papers you signed, it certainly says that you did not have to buy the packages. Although what he sid was illegal, what's on the papers is all you can prove).

You weren't required to buy the packages, and should have walked. But you chose to sign instead, and flushed $5000 down the toilet. When a criminal tries to cheat you, helping him by signing papers is not the best idea.
