Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

hello, unfortunately i became ill and had to stop working. i`ve developed a medical condition that prevents me from legally driving and working around certain equipment. in the mean time the bills are really starting to get steep, i had 2 credit cards i could`nt any longer pay for. one of the credit card companies has forwarded my balance due of $ 2906.00 to an attorney for collection. i cannot pay this debt, i feel badly for this, but i cannot see a way to come up with this money. the attorney is demanding payment be made in 30-days or they will proceed to court. i am in such dire straits that $ 25.00 a month would hurt other bills. can you please give me some advise to use against this attorney. do i have any legal leg to stand on here. thanks.
