Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Ex-Spouse's medical bills

As a term of my divorce my ex-spouse is to pay all of his past medical bills. I keep getting a bill from several years ago under my name because I carried his health insurance through my employer. The bill is for $1,300.00 and so far he has not contacted the medical collection agency to make payment arrangements and the collection agency refuses to put it in his name. Do I have any recourse?

There are ways

Without getting into too much complications, you might want to try writing the debt collectors and provide them with the information from your divorce decree, indicating that your husband is responsible for those bills. You did not provide enough details of the circumstances for me to respond specificially to anything in particular. I would like more information and it's best when I can ask the person over the telephone. If you are still uncertain about what to do, you should contact an attorney for a free telephone consultation to discuss your situation.
