Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

lien

In my divorce, my ex-husband was ordered to pay a lump sum for marital debt. He has never paid it (we've been divorced 4 1/2 years). He purchased a home last year. I was told I could file a contempt claim or place a lien on his home. He is a police officer already on probation. It would not benefit me to file the contempt claim as he may lose his job. Could I place a lien on his home and how would I go about doing so?

Re: lien

You may have those options after you take certain steps in the case (including a contempt motion), but providing step by step instructions is beyond the scope of this forum (plus, this is obviously not going to be a DIY project). Contact the lawyer who handled the case for you, or a local lawyer in your area who practices family/domestic law.
