Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Non-Refundable Deposit at B&B

I reserved a room at a B&B where my family is hosting a reunion. One of my cousins made all the arrangements which apparently included a 30 day cancellation notice required for refundable deposits. I booked a room and a $201.60 deposit was charged to my Visa. Now, over 2 weeks prior to the reunion, I have had to cancel the reservation and the innkeeper refuses to refund the deposit. Is this legal?

Re: Non-Refundable Deposit at B&B

If notice of the 30 day cancellation policy was clearly given, then yes, it is effective and legal. The innkeeper is entitled to compensation for the cancellation of this reservation because of the other reservations he turned down thinking you would keep yours.

Your beef is with your relative who didn't inform you of the cancellation policy, not the B & B. I'd send my cousin the bill.

Good luck.
