Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

repossion 10years ago

i had a car i bought in georgia and moved to florida 1996.the car was repossed in late 1996 or early 1997.the co.auctioned the car and applied the amount to my loan and i believe there was a deficit remaining.anyways, the co.filed a bankruptcy and i never heard no more until 2weeks ago from a collection agency via letter.what is the statue of limitation on a georgia repossion of a vehicle and do i ignore the letter(s) since it was removed from my credit report in 1997 or 1998 and can they file a judgement on me from 10years ago.

It is important to point out your concerns to the collection agency in a letter regarding the bankruptcy and length of time of the debt. As a Florida attorney I cannot advise of GA law. 10 years may be well beyond the statute of limitations depending on the particular facts of your case.
