Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

on last week i went to a rent to own store and purchased a tv. the tv was priced at 850.00 and the payments is 32.00 per week, well i went in today to pay a payment on the tv and i was told that the store had priced the tv incorrect. that the tv is going to be 1599.99. so they would not take a payment on it. they said i have to return the tv, or agree to pay the 1599.99 price for it. so my question is, can they legaly renig on the sale price of the tv?

You fail to mention the most important detail - the terms of the written agreement. If you think they are trying to pull something, take it back (get in writing you owe nothing more) and do business somewhere else.

You omitted the sole piece of information needed to answwr you. What does the written paperwork say (there may also be small print addressing pricing errors)? If you let us know that we can answer you.

Instead of asking this question, what I would do is thank your lucky stars for giving you this glitch and take the tv back and start saving your pennies. These places are ripoffs!

You can get a used tv on places like Craig' List or eBay. You have to be careful and only deal with locals. If someone in Nigeria offers to sell you a tv cheap, run.

You may not get a fancy hi def tv, but you will get something serviceable. If its an old tv and you don't have cable, you may have to buy one of those converter boxes that the government was giving out coupons for,

As I said, get something functional and pay yourself that $32 you would have spent. When you accumulate enough in your bank account, get flyers from the electronics stores and look for sales. when you find what you want, get it.

Are you a member of a warehouse club? Sometimes they have better deals on electronics like this and they even have coupons (BJ's does and I am sure that Costco or Sam's does as well).

Regarding your question, read your contract and see what it says. There may be something in the contract that allows them to change the price. As I said, I would not deal with these people - the fact that they are sloppy shows you what they will do with your payments.
