Appealing a four year old case

My boyfriend has been incarcerated for four years, with a sentence of thirty five years do thirteen. I do not think that was a fair or correct amount of time to sentence him, I want to know how do I go about appealing his situation. Thank you I look foreward to hearing from you

Re: Appealing a four year old case

Within four years of a conviction becoming final, a habeas petition can be filed challenging the conviction. The starting date will depend on whether he went to trial or pled guilty, and whether he appealed his case. In the alternative, a parole petition may be filed to reduce a person's actual serve time. Eligibility will depend on the offense convicted.
