i was charged with battery by my father it has been over a year and still do not have a trial date how can i speed this up without pleading quility

It's not unusual to have long delays when you are not a jail case.

It's actually in your interest, as I am sure your lawyer has told you (you do have one, right?) to do nothing, as the longer the state waits, the more likely it becomes that you never go to trial.

There is really no way for you to speed it up. If you retain an attorney, he may be able to confer with the prosecutor, and get you accused faster, in order to get to court faster. What do you intend to do when you get to court? A trial? Do you have a trial attorney lined up?
