Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

CJA appointed lawyer doing nothing...

My husband is facing serious federal charges his court appointed attorney doesnt accept his collect calls gives me the runaround on the phone never goes to see him he has been in jail 3 months already and is the only defendant on a list of 30 who has not recieved his discovery materials. We are wondering what recourse we have to get his lawyer to devote time to this case that it deserves? And also if he doesnt and my husband is sentenced unfairly beccause of it can we appeal on the grounds of ineffective counsel? He just wants a decent lawyer and a fair chance what should we do? His deadline for pretrial motions was last month and his lawyer filed a one week extension which he then let lapse without filling a single motion ar even visiting my husband or speaking with him. Everytime I speak with him he states that he has the 3000 pages of discovery for my husband and will be taking them to him ''over the weekend'' he has said this 4 ''weekends'' in a row and has yet to go see him. We are at the ends of our ropes and scared for my husbands future. He is trying his best to cooperate and get a 5k1 motion but with such an awful lawyer we are really starting to worry.

You need to address the problem of your attorney to the Judge. You should call the court clerk or Judge's office. Good luck.
