Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

My friend was arrested in Dougherty County for a probation violation and then transferred to Union County. They say he has a public defender assigned but she says she has no paperwork yet. He has not been told why or how he has violated probation nor has he seen a judge yet. What is the normal protocol for a probation violation arrest and having a hearing? Thank you for your help as we can not find out anything and it has been a week now,

First of all, he is likely NOT telling you the whole truth. Probation officers are horribly overworked. Before issuing a warrant they will make numerous calls and letters, so he knows why he is there (he may choose not to tell you). His attorney won't be allowed to talk to you without his okay.
