if i go with a public defender at my hearing and im not satisfied can hire me a lawyer for the trial

In general, the answer is "yes" you can hire private counsel to represent you if you are not satisfied with the Public Defender Attorney's performance. Nonetheless, you did not say what type of Hearing you're having. Depending on the Judge and where the case is procedurally, a Judge may not allow you to change an attorney right before your trial, etc. because that may delay the process, etc. You have the right to hire private counsel; the court-appointed attorney can be refused.
