Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

misled and uninfomred

many years ago I had a troubled time. I got over my head with bad checks that I paid at the police station. I didnt know I was being charged for no one told me that was teh case. It was said that I come in and paid the check plus court fees. I was never read my rights or spent any time in jail. But now I see this is on my record as arrests and convictions. I tried to plead my case to the DA and I was told what was done is done and I should have known what was going on. can I appeal these past charges and clear my name?

Re: misled and uninfomred

It depends..

How long ago are we talking about?

You may be able to withdraw the plea depending on the amount of time that has gone by.

Also if you got a "withhold of adjudication" you may be able to have your record sealed.

Shoot me an email or give me a ring at the office tomorrow and I could help further.

I do not think the facts of your cases present a situation where anything can be done.
