Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

stalking

I have a friend who dated a guy for a while. He was very abusive with her. They have been apart for 2 years and he is still bothering her. Lately he has gotten really bad and is threating her and coming to her home. He calls her at home anf at work and follows her to different places and any one she tries to have a relationship with. What can she do?

Re: stalking

Your friend can get a temporary restraining order against him and apply for a permanent restraining order. If he violates the order, he will be arrested and can be charged under Georgia's stalking statute. If he continues to stalk her, he can be charged with aggravated stalking and face felony charges. She should save any threatening messages, and seek the restraining order in the county courts where the Defendant lives or where she lives.
