Driving Record vs criminal record

I received my first DUI back in 97 in AL and my second one in 2003 in GA. My driving record did not show my DUI in AL but the Judge had my record and had it as my 2nd. I was treated as it was my first DUI by the DMV by was treated as it was my 2nd in court. Why is this?

DMV probably too lazy to pull your driving record from Alabama. But hey, if they don't find it certainly don't bring it to their attention.
