Legal Question in DUI Law in Georgia

underage possesion of alcohol

I recieved a ticket for underage possesion of alcohol and was taking to the nearest jail. I was not read my rights and felt completely violated. I am confused what happens to a 20 year old person who recieves a ticket for underage possession of alcohol. What happens next? What are my consequences and how will I get this off my record?

Miranda warnings or being read your rights are not required to make an arrest valid...they are only required if the police wish to question you or wish you to make statement...possession crimes generally dont rely on a confession. Unfortunately, unless your somewhat odd being arrested generally makes a person feel violated, degraded, etc. And the cops certainly dont try to make you feel any better about it either. But, hey, they're not trying to be Dr. Phil, right? Im assuming you made bail, so they either gave you your next court date on your ticket or you will be mailed a notice of it. You could also call just to be sure about it...Get an attorney and he/she will explain your options and possible outcomes...getting your record cleared could be difficult, since you are not a minor, unless but you plead 1st offender treatment...your arrest record will always be there but only the police will have access to it under most circumstances. Best of luck...pas
